Awareness, Research, Education and Support

The philosophy of CHDA, Inc. is to provide support and information.  A special bond often develops between parents, affected children and their siblings when families get together to share ideas and experiences.  New parents can be given hope and encouragement. Family outings are planned for all to enjoy.  Our events offer an informal atmosphere for parents to meet each other and for children to interact with one another.  In addition, relevant topics and issues are addressed through speakers.
1) Network with other parents constantly. They are a major resource of knowledge on all ranges of topics. You cannot spend too much time doing this.

2) Network with.

3) Read, read, read.

4) Go to meetings, trainings, and conferences -- everything you can go to gain knowledge.

5) Get the support of family members and friends. They can help in many areas.

6) Detailed knowledge of your child can make a huge difference.

7) Keep learning. Don't get over confident in your knowledge. I have found that continuing to search has brought us to where we are.
Please know you are not alone. Today, you have resources that were not available ten years ago in this area: multiple internet lists with informed parents to help you . . . many CHD books newly published . . . and local meetings and conferences. You will have support.

CHDA, Inc. is composed of dedicated volunteers from around the community who play an integral part in the success by providing resources and encouragement to parents, educators and professionals.
